Blavity Media Group Expands Into Connected TV Through Strategic Channel Sales Partnership with OTTera

The nation’s largest digital media company for Black culture adds CTV advertising inventory to its platform, unlocking the living room for brand partners reaching Black America

LOS ANGELES — Blavity Media Group today announced a channel sales partnership with OTTera, a leading global OTT technology and distribution platform, adding Connected TV (CTV) advertising to its portfolio for the first time. The agreement makes BMG an authorized channel sales partner for OTTera’s advertising inventory, enabling brand partners to extend campaigns beyond BMG’s digital ecosystem and into the connected TV screens of Black households across America.

The partnership expands BMG’s offering to include CTV placements distributed through OTTera’s network of 600+ live streaming applications and 2,000+ FAST channels, reaching nearly 100 million users across the industry’s leading connected TV platforms — including Samsung, Vizio, Hisense, Sony, and Roku. For the first time, brands working with BMG can activate a single, integrated campaign that reaches Black consumers across digital media, social, newsletter, events, and now connected TV.

The deal also opens a new content vertical for BMG’s brand partners: sports. OTTera’s FAST channel portfolio includes live and on-demand sports programming, allowing BMG to extend brand reach into sports content for the first time — a high-value environment for advertisers seeking culturally engaged audiences.

Blavity Media Group reaches over 32 million monthly users across its six premium brands — Blavity, AfroTech, 21Ninety, Travel Noire, Home & Texture, and Shadow & Act — and extends campaigns through the Blavity360° minority-owned publisher network. The addition of OTTera’s CTV inventory creates what BMG describes as the most comprehensive advertising platform for brands seeking authentic, scaled access to Black consumers across every screen.

“Black culture has never been confined to one screen, and neither should the brands that want to show up authentically for our audience. This partnership with OTTera means that for the first time, a brand can walk into BMG and leave with a campaign that reaches Black America from their morning scroll to their living room couch. That is a first in Black media, and we built it,” said Morgan DeBaun, CEO and Founder of Blavity Inc.

“Blavity has built a cultural engine that brands trust, and this partnership extends that power into connected TV at scale. Together, we’re creating a new standard—where reaching Black audiences isn’t fragmented across platforms, but unified across every screen. OTTera is proud to help power that shift and continue investing in Black-owned media as a core part of the future of streaming,” said Stephen Hodge, CEO and Co-Founder of OTTera.

OTTera has become a leading infrastructure partner for multicultural media, with a strong focus on Black-owned and Black-culture platforms, powering the growth of AfroLandTV, launching The Shade Room’s FAST channel, and supporting the launches of Remy Network and SKT Network. The partnership with Blavity Media Group represents OTTera’s largest channel sales relationship with a Black-owned media company to date.
